Campus Life

The school is structured to create a Christian family atmosphere with policies, traditions and rules. Students are expected to adhere to standards of behavior anchored in the Golden Rule. This creates an intimate community of students and staff who share the common goal of making the most from their educational experience.

A diverse mix of nationalities make-up our student population. The majority are from Texas and Mexico, though other students are from as far away as Albania, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Korea, India, Belize, Brazil, Columbia, Honduras, Panama, Ecuador, Pakistan, and Taiwan. A special blending and sharing of cultures and experiences is created from such a diversity of economic and religious backgrounds. This broadens a student's attitudes and builds a deeper understanding of the global community of humankind.

The majority of the students are housed on campus, though some "day students" from the surrounding area also attend full-time. The young women reside in the Berta Murray Hall, which has four wings opening into a central lounge. The young men reside in four residence halls with the Martin G. Miller Boys' Center providing their lounge area.

Students are encouraged to make decisions and accept responsibility for their actions. The school does not tolerate alcohol, tobacco, drugs or gangs on campus.

Campus Life often revolves around activities at the student center or gymnasium. There are occasional off-campus trips to neighboring Kingsville or Corpus Christi for plays, concerts, sporting events, movies, and shopping trips.

As part of our outreach ministry, some of our students choose to assist small congregations in the area by teaching church school or helping in worship.

For medical care, a registered nurse is on staff; medical emergencies are referred to the school doctor and are treated at a local clinic or hospital.
