Pan Am and Longview Christian Heritage at top
Pan American School (defending state TAPPS champions) and Longview Christian Heritiage, both with undefeated and untied records, have climed to the top of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools as the 2009 fall soccer season nears its halfway point.

Both teams have competition. Pan Am narrowly defeated Universal City First Baptist (2-1), while Sherman Texoma Christian (8-2) challenges Longview for honors in the north. Austin Concordia and Brownsville Livingway are both 2-1. Other contenders are Conroe Covenant Christian and Highlands Chinquapin each have won their only games as well.

The individual scoring race is heating up on several fronts, although Christian Ortiz of Pan American appears to be building a substantial lead.

Mrs. Elena Reisner
Mrs. Elena Reisner passed away on March 2, 2009, in Falls Church, Virginia at the age of 86.  She was the wife of the first president of Presbyterian Pan American School, Dr. Sherwood Reisner, and an active partner in mission with her husband.  She taught English at Pan Am and also served for a time as interim president.

Mrs. Reisner had a special place in the hearts of many PPAS alumni and friends.  A book of “remembrances” has been compiled as a gesture of appreciation to the family for her dedicated service.
