Greetings from the San Antonio Cluster of Presbyterian Women, represented by Anabell Rosales, Rev. Lydia Hernandez-Trickey, and me, Janice Zitelman. We are grateful to join with you today in this brief service of dedication and thanksgiving. Are you curious about the new dishware? This past year, the Presbyterian Women’s Bible Study was “God’s Call to Care for Neighbors and All Creation”. According to Scripture, the earth and its members belong to God. We are called to care for creation not only because God loves it, but also because a healthy creation supports human well-being. This Bible study was an invitation to explore and to act, with all our hearts, in responding to an issue that impacts all life on God’s earth. In March, I had the opportunity to visit your campus for the first time. I found it disconcerting that you were using so many disposable items for your meals, all of which spoil our planet. Apparently, the practice had begun during the COVID-19 pandemic and had not reverted to using dishware, which would be better for the earth. Upon returning to San Antonio, the concern was discussed in our Presbyterian Women’s Bible study group. As a result, providing dishware for your school became the primary fundraiser for the San Antonio Cluster of Presbyterian Women. The generosity of the group was so overwhelming that you now have enough new dishware for every celebration, including guests. Let us begin the worship of dedication for new dishware. Please join with us and respond with words in bold.
