She took second place at the Kingsville Rotary Club 4-way Test Speech Contest, and won the District Soil and Water Conservation Essay Contest. Hannia will continue her education at Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, and major in chemical engineering. After completing some coursework, she plans to broaden her horizon, and study overseas. When asked about her plans, Hannia said, “I would like to be a young pioneer and start my own company regarding the chemical process of petroleum and its derivatives.” By Eulalia Velasquez. Born in Seoul, South Korea, 19-year-old Wooseok Choi came to Pan Am as a freshman. He was in search of a more diverse education, with opportunities for extracurricular activites, which his home country does not offer. During his 4 years at Pan Am, Wooseok “grew up, and grew closer to God.” Choi enjoyed being part of the school’s boys’ soccer and baseball teams. He excelled academically, and was a member of National Honor Society. He plans to stay in the United States to continue his education. He will attend Texas A&M University, Kingsville, and plans to major in chemical engineering. While he worked hard, Choi also enjoyed his time at Pan Am. Amongst his favorite memories was Celebration, an annual event. It is a 3-day retreat of sorts, in the tradition of Cursillo, the Walk to Emmaus, and Presbyterian Pilgrimmage. Choi cherished Celebration because, “during those weekends I got to talk to people that I previously didn’t know very well.” By Jesus Galvan.
