It was 1972, and she was an active member of the former Presbyterian Latin American Auxiliary (PLAA) in the Dallas area. A friend who served as liaison between PLAA and PPAS “talked about Pan Am all of the time,” Nell remembers. “She was always wanting us to do stuff for the school.” When chance provided an opportunity for Nell to meet PPAS students when they came to her church, she understood her friend’s passion and dedication. “Pan American School is one of those places that is good, and doing what they say they’re doing,” Nell says. “It prepares today’s kids to be leaders in the future, and to make an impact on their communities. And, their students come from all over the world. So, this one little school is mak- ing a global impact.” A life-long Presbyterian, Nell learned how to count by flipping through the hymnbook. She never really thought about stewardship and giving, she says, until she married her late husband Harold. At the very beginning of their marriage they decided that they would tithe. Nell sees her philanthropy as participating in God’s mission. After Harold passed away in 2014, she had the opportunity to continue making a difference, both presently, and after her own death. Nell decided to take out a life insurance policy, and chose as beneficiaries organizations that are close to her heart, including PPAS. “All of the places I chose to benefit in my planned giving have something to do with children,” Nell says. “I did that, because I think that children have so much value. Pan Am is so good because of its international environment. Within themselves and their relationships with one anther, the students embody the beautiful diversity of Body of Christ to the world.” Throughout her 46 years of involvement with PPAS, Nell has watched many Eagles try their wings and soar from the nest of campus. Each student that she has met has inspired her, and she feels blessed to support their flight. President Dalglish and Mrs. Nell Green
